I am so happy to announce that the second show at Hugh's Room has sold out. This does not mean you can't still get in - it's just that you have to stand. All the seats are gone. I've seen a few shows at Hugh's standing by the bar and had a jolly good time. I'm so excited to play at this venue. I was living in the neighborhood when Hugh's first open and have been going for years ... it's going to be brilliant! The only thing I have to do is get over this cold I woke up with this morning - ick! I'm not only following my own tried and true remedies, I'm chucking in a pinch of everyone else's for good measure. On that subject - if you find yourself suffering from a cold, or better yet, the beginnings of one, might I make a few recommendations ....

Fresh Juice - the base doesn't seem to make a difference - I say what ever makes it more palatable - carrot/apple/celery etc ... the  "active ingredients" are ginger and garlic. I learned this years ago from a friend with cancer who really couldn't afford to get sick and whenever she felt a flu coming on made this fresh drink.

The other helpful flu-buster I've learned about over the years is taking a Zinc tablet, I find it actually makes a noticeable difference. Now, this one is a bit tricky - I've made a mistake here myself and seen a friend do the same - I HAVE to take Zinc tablet with Plenty of Food. I learned this the hard way ... if you think a head cold sucks, add projectile vomiting and reassess.

My last is a bit odd but I think there's something to it. If at all possible, and only in the safest gentlest way - see if you can get your self to break into a sweat. I'll often go for a brisk walk ... or do some basic strength building exercises in a warm room ... I find heat - even like the heat from the ginger in the juice can help speed up the process of "sweating it out of your system".

Well, that's enough of my hippie-dippy advice on my personal home remedies for dealing with the common cold ... I'll have to give the full report at Sunday's show. I bet those of you that got an table right up front are starting to doubt your choice of proximity to the stage ..... "God, I hope she didn't take any Zinc today" ... "What's that faint smell of garlic and ginger?"

I look forward to seeing you at Hugh's ...
